The Association of Artists, Painters and Sculptors
The tradition of exhibiting art works in the Old Town of Warsaw dates back to fifties. The totally reconstructed Old Town, signed up to the UNESCO's World Heritage List, has become the most important tourist attraction of Warsaw. It has always attracted artists from around the country. As the years passed by their artwork - paintings, graphics and sculptures have turned into the biggest year long open field gallery in Poland.
During the time of political transformation in our country , the Association of Artists, Painters and Sculptors from Old Town was established to preserve the unique and independent character of the Gallery. It was registered on May, 16th 1991 in the District Court of Warsaw. The Associatin exhibits the art of about 50 artists in the streets around Barbicane, and being the social organisation, it takes part in the public life of the city of Warsaw, i.e. the annual Old Town's Days, charity auctins and other significant events, such as the Polish Culture Congress 2000.
The major statute targets are: developing and propagating the fine arts, to create favourable conditions for talents to develope in the Association by organizing exhibitions, outdoor and educational trips.
